Arohee`s tour

Dated 18th December, 2008
Arohee has performed it`s median full length drama D.L.Roy`s CHANDRAGUPTA at RANGAPEET UTSAV ,Santipore, Nadia.We started from Bandel by vehicle and reached Santipore while all theatre activist of Rangapeet waited to welcome us with chandan & flower. The utsav premises was decorated decently.Arohee is grateful to Rangapeet to allow us to stage D.L.Roy`s drama at Nadia District which is the home District of that great dramatist.

We proceed for Bongoingoin , Assam by Saraighat Express to perform HALUD RANGHER T SHIRT at All India Drama competition organized by Friends Club at Railway Institute, New Bongoingoin. We got opportunity to stage with full of audience at 9 pm on 23rd. It is a great experience to perform multilingual drama competition ever our life. The organizer has arranged all shorts of cooperation in respect of food & lodging , reception, transportation etc. we returned on 25th.

Rural Group

Theatre is practised in West Bengal in a very wide scale. Almost every locality has a theatre group, although none of them is confined within the local characteristics. However, theatres in West Bengal can be divided in two streams - (a) Kolkata-based theatres and (b) Rural theatres. The Kolkata-based groups perform almost regularly in the popular stages in Kolkata and stay in focus. Comparatively, the rural theatre groups are less known although most of them work seriously throughout the year. What rest of the world understands as Bengali Theatre is actually the theatres presented by the Kolkata-based groups. In form and content, the two types of theatres have no major difference. But, in terms of both finance and expertise, the Kolkata-based theatres are more enriched. This is mainly due to the influx of expertise from rural areas to Kolkata in search of appreciation from a larger set of audience.Bandel Arohee a rural group theatre.

The drama was enacted by different theatre groups in different time in INDIA specially at West Bengal.
Ours tribute to D.L.ROY on present political consequence of INDIA.
